PLATTSBURGH — Nearly 100 leads have been investigated by state police after a 45-year-old woman was found dead from stabbing in her vehicle Thursday in a bank parking lot on State Route 3.
At approximately 1:19 p.m., state police were asked to check on the well-being of Monique R. Yanulavich, 45, who lives at 5 Westwood Dr. in Plattsburgh. Around 5:45 p.m., Ms. Yanulavich was found dead in her vehicle in the parking lot of Banque Nationale Champlain. An autopsy on Friday determined the cause of death to be stabbing and the manner of death ruled homicide.
State police and partner agencies have investigated nearly 100 leads to date, according to a news release on Saturday. The police investigation determined that the attack appears to have been targeted and not random. Nothing was developed during the investigation that would allow the public to be considered to be in danger.
State Police are asking members of the public who live in the Route 3, Cornelia Street, Broad Street, Rugar Street and Westwood Drive areas of Plattsburgh to check surveillance camera systems for suspicious activity from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. pm on Thursday, July 14. State police are also asking the public to report any suspicious items that may be on their property, including trash cans.
