The meteorologist shared a number of shocking statistics in her new book – one in particular which stated that the UK only recycles 47% of its plastic waste.
Laura says that because of this, if she buys plastic items, she waits until she gets home to dispose of it properly amid fears if she were to throw it away in a public place, it would end up in the wrong trash can.
“It’s no surprise that me doing this annoys my husband,” Laura wrote.
“Especially if we buy something while we’re out, I have to carry it around until we get home because most cities and towns don’t have recycling bins yet.

“I can’t bring myself to put recyclables in a regular bin because I know they will end up in a landfill.
“Before Covid I even used to take things out of the regular bin at the station and put them in the recycling bin they actually provide there.”
Throughout her informative book on climate change, Laura insisted that she would do everything in her power to make the world a better place for her daughter, and hopes that over time the damage to the planet can one day be repaired by the actions of people who take respect for the environment seriously.
