Kansas City Bier has a cool recycling partnership for its Ardagh glass bottles

Everyone is always talking about cans. Let’s not forget that the bottles are 100% recyclable and make a great container for your craft beer. They can also help you tell your story as a brewery. Here is an example : Ardagh Glass Packaging – North America (AGP – North America) has partnered with Kansas City Beer Company. to supply all of the brewery’s glass beer bottles. The partnership connects Kansas City Bier with AGP – the Pevely, Mo. glass manufacturing plant in North America, helping to deliver on the brewery’s promise to source local products and incorporate sustainable practices into its operations. Kansas City Bier exclusively packages its beer in 100% infinitely recyclable glass bottles, all made in the USA, by AGP – North America.

“It’s important to us to reduce our impact on the environment wherever possible,” said Katie Camlin, digital and social media coordinator at Kansas City Bier. “Glass bottles are both reusable and recyclable, and working with Ardagh, a national manufacturer, dramatically reduces shipping distances.”

In 2021, Kansas City Bier filled over 2.6 million glass beer bottles, delivering fresh, local German-style lagers throughout Missouri and Kansas.

“Ardagh Glass Packaging loves partnering with craft brewers like Kansas City Bier who have a passion for glass bottles and sustainable practices,” said Clint Gawart, vice president, beer and beverages for AGP – North America. “We have supplied the brewery for the past four years and are delighted that they continue to package all of their products in 12oz glass bottles designed and manufactured by Ardagh.”

Just as important as packaging beer from the brewery in durable glass bottles is the ability to recycle those bottles endlessly, turning them into new bottles. Thanks to the brewery’s partnership with Corrugated glass, a glass recycling provider for the Kansas City area and the Americas Central region, glass bottles are recycled into new bottles without any loss of quality or purity. Last year, Kansas City Bier diverted 25,515 pounds, or 12.75 tons, from landfill by recycling glass bottles into the famous purple bins provided by Ripple Glass.

Recycling plays a key role in the sustainability initiatives of AGP – North America and Kansas City Bier. Recycling glass containers not only keeps glass out of landfills while giving it the new life it deserves, it also has significant environmental benefits by saving raw materials, reducing energy demand and by reducing CO2 emissions. Recycling glass is a great way to close the loop, protect the environment and support local businesses.

Throughout 2022, Ardagh Glass Packaging will celebrate the United Nations International Year of Glass (IYOG), commemorating the essential role of glass packaging in a sustainable society. In this IYOG, AGP – North America focuses on celebrating customers like Kansas City Bier and its use of sustainable and recyclable glass beer bottles, to celebrate the important role of glass packaging in today’s world. .
