Bhumia Samaj protests and submits note to Jeypore sub-collector

Koraput, September 3: Resentment grew among tribal people in Koraput district over the issue of a social worker dancing Padma Shri Kamala Pujari during treatment with people from Bhumia Samaj taking to the streets and submitting a memorandum to the sub – collector against the “horrible” act of the social worker.

Bhumia Samaj members held a rally in Jeypore and submitted a memorandum to the sub-collector demanding action against the social worker who made Pujari dance while she was recently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital. They asked the sub-collector to send the memorandum to the Governor and the Chief Minister.

“It is disrespectful to the legendary Kamal Pujari to force her to dance. We want actions against the social worker,” Bhumia Samaj said.

In his reaction, the sub-collector Jeypore indicated that he would definitely carry out an investigation based on the memorandum submitted by the Bhumia activists.

Notably, a video has gone viral on social media, showing a sick woman dancing Pujari in a hospital room. This triggered strong reactions from the tribal communities. Many tribal organizations have also threatened unrest if no action is taken against the social worker.
