An initiative to recycle flowers into scented sticks – NewsGram

Flowers are an important part of Hindu religious rites, whether in a temple, gurdwara or mosque, and virtually all flowers are discarded as rubbish in landfills or streams.

MDPH, one of the top three agarbatti manufacturers in the country, has partnered with HelpUsGreen, a pioneer in flower recycling technology, to offer “Nature Flower” aromatic incense sticks made from recycled flowers under its flagship Zed Black brand.

HelpUsGreen has been a leader in building a one-of-a-kind circular business model in India and using pioneering flower recycling technologies to clean up waterways and places of worship.

Future generations will benefit from a healthy and sacred environment through the removal of pollutants and the reduction of the country’s carbon footprint.

The crew has already changed the lives of hundreds of people by tending to over 230 tonnes of floral debris at over 25 places of worship in Kanpur, including temples and gurudwaras.

“Joining hands with HelpUsGreen, a pioneer in flower recycling technology, to create the ‘Nature Flower’ brand of agarbatti is our modest effort to minimize floral waste from sacred places across the country,” said Ankit Agrawal, Partner manager of Mysore Deep Perfumery House (Zed Noir).

We also strive to keep the environment clean for visitors and locals. We are in negotiations with many municipal corporations to collect everyday floral waste and wilted flowers and recycle them into aromatic incense sticks under the MDPH “Nature Flower” brand, in addition to collaborating with temples.

“The MOU with MDPH is crucial as a well-known national brand thinks about waste management and ensuring that this cause reaches the public in the most effective way possible,” said Karan Rastogi, Founder and Director of HelpUsGreen.
